Kirtland, Ohio, December 21, 2009 ~ January 28, 2010 - The Lakeland Community College Fine Arts Gallery proudly presents a group exhibition of new work by acclaimed artists Tracy Ameen, Anna Arnold, Donald Black Jr, Marquita M. Brown, Ronald D. Clayton, Devlin Culliver, Gabriel Gonzalez, Chester Hopkins-Bey, Julius Lyles, Van Monroe, Lindsay Rodgers, Charmaine Spencer, An’Angelia Thompson, Larry Tinsley, Bob Walls and Gina Washington, Lolita Wilson. Assembling a compilation of collective visual arrangements exploring multicultural perceptions and expressions through visual documentation and interpretation.

This Exhibition is an engaging process of experiences and historical perceptions captured through visual interpretations focusing on the meanings of what is "Black," "Black Enough," and "Too Black" in today's society? This retrospective focuses on the isms that define, divide, examine, separate, and challenge today’s society.
Organized by Independent curator, Julius Lyles, and guest curator Heather C. Terry this exhibition includes over 50 visual works in digital photography, assemblage, painting, sculpture, illustration, ceramics and mixed media by a collective of diverse emerging and professional artists.
Artists will be at The LCC Fine Arts Gallery to participate in a Meet and Greet Discussion Reception to follow after the tribute to Dr. King hosted by The Lake County chapter of the NAACP in the Lakeland Auditorium next to the gallery, which starts at 6 PM on 1/18/2010. Here’s an opportunity to be a part of this social gathering to celebrate the linage of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and The Civil Rights Legacy – a forum where artist, diverse communities come together and discuss future solutions to individual and industrialized racism, inequality, social dysfunction, prejudices and our future as proud American citizens. “We will get to the promise land by any means necessary”.

The Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 9 am – 9 pm, Saturday - Sunday 9am – 5pm.
